At the Baths

We crossed under the channel yesterday by train then caught a train to Bath. We walked at least a Km I’m sure between stations and then hauled the suitcases up and down too many stairs but we mad it to Bath. The Roman ruins are amazing and the museum is very, very interesting. Photos will be posted at the next stop along the way.

FYI – Jane Austen began her writing with a story about Bath. Also William Wilberforce was married in this town and stayed here with friends to recuperate.

More when I have time. Must catch a train soon.

    Welcome to the yew kay.

    😉

Bath is a lovely place, and one of our favourite cities. If you have time, go to the new baths in the evening and up to the thermal pool on the roof after dark – it’s a wonderful experience.

  2. It’s too bad Wilberforce had to recuperate in Bath after his marriage, but hey, perhaps you and Leo, after 40 years of marriage will need to recuperate there too;-) Do they have Roman baths? or is that not where they got the name?:-)

Press on….and enjoy every beautiful moment!

    Miss you……

They do have Roman baths in Bath – very interesting historical site. But we didn’t actually bathe – at least not in the baths. One can I guess but we would have needed more time.

The original Roman bath has been off limits for a long time now. I believe it’s due to health regulations about bacterial growth in the water that can’t be controlled through conventional means. More a legal/technical issue than anything else, but you know how that goes.

  5. Glad you made it! We’ll be there in 9 days!
